About CIF - UAE

We are delighted to announce UAE Children’s Innovation Fest 2023. We have planned various interesting events as part of the UAE Children’s Innovation Fest 2023. We look forward to your School’s participation in all the events. An overall Championship trophy will also be awarded to the school with the maximum winning entries.

The main events of the fest include:
  1. Event 1 –National Children’s Science Congress –NCSC
  2. Event 2 - Science Innovative Skit Contest
  3. Event 3 - Poster Making Contest
  4. Event 4 - Scientific Case Study
  5. Event 5 - The Third Eye –Photography contest
  6. Event 6 – Science Quiz Competition
  7. Event 7 - Colouring/Drawing contest to promote Environmental awareness
  8. Event 8 -Teachers Empowerment programme
  9. Event 9 – Seminar for students
Event 1. National Children’s Science Congress

All teams will display their projects in an exhibition format on the first day. Judges will listen to Project abstracts and 5 best teams from each category will be allowed to present on stage on day 2. Presentation will be for 8 minutes and 2 minutes for interaction with judges. Viva questions will be asked to selected teams on stage. The best 2 teams in each category will be the adjudged as Winners and will get the opportunity to participate in the National level NCSC organized in India.

Event 2 - Science Innovative Skit Contest - ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

The Scientific skit contest will be based on the NCSC theme and its sub themes. You may register yourself at https://www.sifuae.com/cif.html. The youtube video links may be uploaded to our website www.sifuae.com at a later date.

Event 3 - Poster Making Contest
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
  1. Junior Category-Lower Group: 10 years to less than 14 years, -Maximum 2 teams per school. Each team to have 2 participants.
  2. Senior Category-Upper Group: 14 years to less than 17 years –Maximum 2 teams per school. Each team to have 2 participants.
  3. The posters will be judged according to the following criteria: creativity and presentation(40%), originality (30%) and relevance to the theme (30%).
  4. Topic will be announced 1 hour before the contest. All material required for contest to be brought by participants. A3 size sheets will be provided. All posters should have a caption.
  5. 1 ½ hours will be provided for making the poster.
  6. The posters will be displayed and will be adjudged.
  7. The contest will be held simultaneously in a separate room and judges will select the winners

Event 4 - Scientific Case Study
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
    1. Apply your research skills to find solutions to a pertinent global issue. Address the topic from all possible areas of science and consider the ethical, social, and economic implications of your proposed solution.
    2. Tackle the case in teams of 3 members and present a solution to a panel of judges who will critique and score the presentations.
    3. All teams will receive the case topic, detailed instructions, one week before the presentation date.
    4. Only those teams that have registered and confirmed their attendance will receive the case details

Event 5 - The Third Eye –Photography contest

Engage youth in science, technology, engineering, by:

    1. Exploring visual aspects through the art and science of photography;
    2. Capturing images to demonstrate and communicate scientific concepts and phenomena;
    3. Applying techniques to the capture of digital images.
  1. Junior Category-Lower Group: 10 years to less than 14 years, -Maximum 3 entries per school. This is an individual event.
  2. Senior Category-Upper Group: 14 years to less than 17 years –Maximum 3 entries per school. This is an individual event.

Image Eligibility –
  1. Any image that demonstrates, communicates or explains a scientific, technological, engineering concept or phenomenon is eligible.
  2. The internet entry form requires the contestant to describe briefly the concept or phenomenon associated with each image.
  3. Images must be the sole work of the contestant.
  4. Images must be captured using a digital camera – images created in software are not permitted
  5. Processing, including cropping and adjustments to correct or enhance exposure or colours, is acceptable; the addition, removal or distortion of significant content is not permitted.
  6. Images must not include a watermark or descriptive text.
Description to be included with the image
  1. Name and surname
  2. Age
  3. School and Emirate
  4. Email address
  5. Title (maximum of 50 characters)
  6. Brief plain language (English) description of the science concept or phenomena depicted in the image. The description should

  1. Colour or grayscale
  2. Minimum resolution: 2000 pixels wide
  3. Maximum file size: 5MB
  4. jpeg, png, psd, or tiff format



Event 6 – Science Quiz Competition
  1. Junior Category-Lower Group: 10 years to less than 14 years, -Maximum 3 entries per school. Each team can have a maximum of 2 team members.
  2. Senior Category-Upper Group: 14 years to less than 17 years –Maximum 3 entries per school. Each team can have a maximum of 2 team members.

Event 7 - Colouring/Drawing contest to promote Environmental awareness (Onsite event)

UN has declared 2023 as the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development. The topic for this year will be based on below sub themes

  1. Strengthening the presence and the visibility of women
  2. Basic sciences as sources of international dialogue and peace
  3. Science as a global public good
  4. Innovation and economic development
  5. Education and human development
  6. Meeting global challenges
  7. This is an open category contest and any child can participate
  8. Registration can be done through our SIF website
  9. A registration charge of AED 15 is applicable for each entry.
  10. Categories are : 5 to less than 8 years, 8 years till Less than 12 years, 12 years to less than 16 years

We are also organizing seminars for Teachers and students during the event.

The online registration will open by June end. And the online registration for all events except Drawing and colouring is opened.
